Music Superstar Mary J. Blige’s Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) and Urban League Awarded Camry Rosario with $ 50,000 Scholarship to Attend Mercy College

Dobbs Ferry, NY (Vocus) December 1, 2010

Thanks to a $ 50,000, four-year college scholarship, funded by recording artist Mary J. Blige’s charity, the Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN), and the Urban League, Mercy College freshman Camry Rosario is one step closer to making her dream of attaining a college degree a reality.

Rosario, who enrolled in Mercy’s biology program this fall, says she selected the College because of its prestigious PACT (Personalized Achievement Contract) program.

“The Mercy College PACT appealed to me as soon as I learned about it,” Rosario says.

The PACT, a nationally recognized mentoring program, pairs incoming freshmen with highly qualified, full-time professional mentors who help students navigate through all aspects of college life, from financial aid to finding internships.

Dr. William E. Martinov, executive dean of student services and leadership, says, “The PACT is a cutting edge initiative in higher education. The unique combination of services and programs prepares our high achieving students to be the best candidate for the graduate school or job of their choice.”

Rosario, who meets with her PACT Mentor Avion Rhoden weekly to discuss academic, career and personal goals, has big plans for the future.

“I want to go to graduate school and get the job of my dreams,” she says. “Being here at Mercy will help me do that.”

“By utilizing PACT services, Camry is successfully navigating her college experience and planning for her future,” says Rhoden. “She epitomizes the objective of the PACT.”

Rosario is grateful for the scholarship funding, saying, “It will alleviate the burden of paying for college and provide opportunities that otherwise may not have been possible.”

Moms Can Attend College Thanks To Obama And His Grants And Scholarships

Moms are being urged by the new president Obama to return to college. President Obama has created Scholarships for Moms to help them deal with the poor US economy by attending college. Moms can now obtain a larger $5,500 Federal Pell Grant to begin the college journey. With the grant increase more moms can apply for higher college degrees. The cost of moms attending college is also being aided with other various denomination scholarships created by the President. The economy will become stronger with more moms working because in part of the $5500 Pell grant that made it possible for them to attend college, get a good degree and enter the job market. Trying to juggle time and money for the busy single mom makes the decision to sign up for the on line option the obvious choice. Moms can go to class when the timing is right. Certified classes are available at city colleges as well at full colleges and universities along with on line educational sites that specialize in degree programs.

Many moms will be eligible for a $10,000 scholarship even if they can not get the Pell grant. Due to the popularity of this program, only a select amount of moms who register will be receiving the scholarship. Back to school moms require the scholarship money to offset the numerous expenses of going to college. Along with allowing Americans the opportunity to achieve a higher education, this will help stimulate the deteriorating economy. Most Moms will need their own money plus the $10,000 scholarship fund to pay for all the college expenses which helps the economy by investing in the education sector. In corporate business the degree determines the job and future advancement. Anyone, especially single moms obtaining a college degree resulting in a better job should be commended for raising their own and their kids standard of living. There is certainly a positive aura surrounding this program.

Moms can dream of a richer and better time ahead when enrolling in college because of the help of the scholarship program. The connotation is that your home is your castle and every mom wants her castle. A higher degree and a better stable job make it possible for a single mom to afford a home and all the costs. When the moms scholarship program gets rolling the overall shape of the US economy will show progress.

Most moms might shoot down the idea of college right away because of the high price tag, but with a $10,000+ discount, it seems a lot more reachable. Obama rejuvenating the moms scholarship and grant program has contributed to making better, wiser and more educated moms able to take care of their families and building a bridge to the business world. Moms need to register to be eligible for the monthly drawing that determines the scholarship winners.

Moms, especially single moms know how hard it is to go back to college. I Moms going to college while raising a family on a tight budget, no way, but stop and think what are my options, then drop everything and register now, you could be the next winner.

Eleven California Schools Districts Awarded $150,000 to Encourage Students to Attend Health Career Institute

In June of 2006, superintendent of public instruction Jack O’Connell awarded $150,000 in grants to 11 districts within the California schools. The funds are for California schools student attendance at the California Health Science Education Institute and associated costs of the program.

Currently, there are numerous jobs in the healthcare industry for applicants with college and only high school degrees. The healthcare industry is in desperate need of well-educated people to fill an increasing number of positions projected for the future. This need gives today’s California schools students opportunities for future careers that will provide them a comfortable lifestyle.

These healthcare jobs are demanding; however, and require rich and rigorous core curriculums for students from kindergarten through high school. The grants will help prepare California schools students for such careers, as well as meet the demand for well-educated workers in the healthcare industry — a win-win situation for everyone.

The funds ultimately are designed to help California schools students consider such careers. The eligible districts within the California schools already have Health Science Pathways in place. They are quality programs that help prepare students for healthcare careers. Districts that participate are eligible for up to $15,000 in grant money, distributed in two payments. The first payment of 75 percent is received before students attend the Institute. The remaining 25 percent is received upon completion of Institute attendance and application requirements.

The fulfillment of each district grant requires:

• Development teams that consist of teachers, administrators, counselors, postsecondary partners, and healthcare industry partners;
• District teams must attend the annual California Health Science Educators Institute, held in Los Angeles every June;
• Teams develop and submit a health science pathway strategic plan, as directed by the Institute;
• A team approach is used in all facets of the California schools program;
• Districts and their teams also must submit to the California schools letters of commitment to the California Health Science Education Institute program; and
• California schools students must attend the California Health Science Education Institute.

The funds for the new California schools program were made available through a partnership between the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency and the California schools. The new programs goes a long way to support enrichment and improvement of the Health Science Pathway program in the California schools, as well as satisfying a community need and offering more opportunities for students in the future.

Readily Available Scholarships Are Causing More Moms To Attend College

Moms are being urged by the new president Obama to return to college. President Obama has created Scholarships for Moms to help them deal with the poor US economy by attending college. Moms can now obtain a larger $5,500 Federal Pell Grant to begin the college journey. With the grant increase more moms can apply for higher college degrees. Certified classes are available at city colleges as well at full colleges and universities along with on line educational sites that specialize in degree programs.

If the Pell grant was not for you, then looks at the $10,000 scholarship that is being offered. Only a small amount of moms will receive this scholarship because there are so many moms applying for the prize. College degrees for moms are very expenses whether on line or in a classroom and the various scholarship funds make it possible for the majority who do attend. The sagging economy will benefit as well as the moms that receive a better degree and job from the educational scholarship fund programs. The $10,000 scholarship will most likely not pay for the entire tuition for all moms, so they will in turn invest their money in education, helping to bring the economy back to a thriving state. The higher the degree the higher the salary in most businesses. Obtaining a college degree for a single mom is difficult and yet so worth while since it also betters their family as well as the graduate. The popular program of Obama scholarship has a positive spin to most moms.

The America dream seems reachable to many moms when they pursue their college career later in life through the scholarship program. A place to call home without the worry of landlord intervention is most moms greatest dream. A mom knows that a solid job is required to purchase a home and that can come about when you get a better education that demands a greater salary. Once this program takes off, the economy will be stimulated.

Going to college for moms on a scholarship is like there is nothing to lose but everything to gain, why not. Scholarships for Moms is a great way for Americans not only to arouse the economy, but to better themselves and be the most well-rounded and educated people they can be. The monthly scholarship drawing picks only from the moms who have registered, so do not wait, you could win $10,000 for college.

Life is short and why wallow in the mud when moms can start a new life by registering for the college scholarship and earn enough money in a good paying job to take care of your family in the way you dreamed.

How Do I Get A Grant To Attend A Lvn Program In Southern California?

I already have a government loan that I am paying. I don’t want another. I want to attend a LVN program in southern california. I live in Lancaster, Ca. I work and so does my husband. What kind of grant can I qualify for? Which school offers a good LVN program that I can start ASAP? Thanks

Why don’t you attend Antelope Valley College? While their program starts every 12 months, it’s far more affordable than all of the countless vocational medical schools in your area. It would be impossible to attend one of those schools solely under grants, especially for the LVN program.
You can see if you qualify for FAFSA through AVC, and under FAFSA you can see if you qualify for the board of governor’s fee waiver (pays your tuition), and countless grants such as Pell and Cal grants. And if you do receive FAFSA, you can try and sign up for EOPS which is a program of the college that offers book vouchers and even small grants throughout the semesters.
But if you really want to attend one of the vocational schools, I’d opt for the Antelope Valley Medical College. While they’re a bit pricey, I believe they guarantee job placement. Plus you can work out loans and defer payments until after you graduate.
Good luck!
