Why Are Women-Owned Small Business Start-Ups Growing in Number?

The economy over the past few years hasn’t just been down, but rather downright dismal. Men and women alike have been losing jobs left and right, and many have had a hard time finding new jobs in their line of work. The reason, of course, is that during a recession such as we have been struggling to get out of, jobs are not just lost but are actually destroyed. Many of the companies that have struggled with extensive layoffs have eliminated the need for those jobs, so there quite simply isn’t a desk to come back.

So what is a woman to do? Women have carried the burdens of not just caring for but also providing for families for countless years. Even when it just wasn’t kosher for a woman to work outside the home, there were still women who took on paid tasks while tending to the house and kids just to help her family survive. This tradition continues on today, albeit in a much more modern way. As a gender, women are not people who will shut down when faced with a challenge, but instead will look for new ways to overcome the challenge. So with this in mind, it really isn’t surprising to learn that women-owned small business start-ups are growing in number Women-owned small business start-ups are known to be created and run by innovative and hard-working women who quite simply don’t know what giving up is. This is why these businesses are not just growing in number, but thriving in success and profits in a down economy.

Women-owned small business start-ups are growing simply because women not only don’t quit when life slams doors, but also because many of us carry that unique combination of being innovative and hard-working that is so necessary for success in the small business world.

The Growing Need for Fast Cash Loan

In this day and age there are two different ways you can go about getting the money you need, and fast cash is one of them. However, a fast cash loan is just one of the two main ways you can get a loan. There is also the long term loan (the fast cash loan is a short term loan). A long term loan is what you get from a bank or a place that will help you finance a car or home. A fast cash loan, or a short term loan, is what you will get from a place that is offering a cash advance. The first thing that you have to do is determine what kind of loan you need.

If you are looking to buy something big, then a fast cash loan is not going to do you. That is because a fast cash loan can only get you around 0 to 00. Now that is a lot of money if you are looking to pay bills or you get something unexpected that comes up. However, if you are looking to buy a car or a home, then you are going to need more money. This is where the long term loan comes in. The long term loan is going to give you more money than what the fast cash loan will get you, but you are going to have to pay more on it as well. In the end, you need to know which one is better for you.

Now a Fast cash loan is going to be able to get you money quickly. A long term loan is something that is going to take days to go through and sometimes even longer before you get to touch the money. A fast cash loan is a loan that you can get in just a little bit of time. That means that you can get the cash you need to cover something that comes up right away. That is why people are starting to need the fast cash loans. Let’s face it; when something goes bad, we do not always have the cash on hand. It’s nice to have something like the fast cash loans to back us up.

Another great thing about the fast cash loans is the fact that you can pay them back right away. So what does that mean, and how is that good for you? Well, paying them back is good for you, because you do not get as many fees. The longer you drag a loan out, the more money it is going to be and the longer it is going to take you to pay off the actual loan. This can be a problem. After all, the whole point of a loan is to get money that we do not have. However, in the end, we are just ending up paying more money than what we took out in the first place. It does not always make a lot of sense.

All in all, there is a growing need for Fast cash loans. This can be due to the fact that the times are changing. However, I think that it’s due to the fact that we all live at the speed of light now. There are going to be times where we need money and we need it now. Thus, in the end, you are going to need fast cash loans. These are loans that we can not live without and there are many reasons to back this up.

A Small Business Loan Alternative for your Growing Business

Financing a small business can be a difficult job if no one is willing to spend money on what you’re selling. But in order to stay afloat, business owners go for the option of applying for small business loans. A business loan can give you more leeway to buy new supplies, pay off debts, or expand your business.

However, more banks nowadays are enforcing stricter rules and guidelines for giving out business loans.  Policies on approval of small business loans are now less lenient and some banks have even demanded additional requirements.

A bad credit history is one important criterion for the approval of a business loan. Like every other bank or lending institution, risk factors have to be taken into consideration before they hand you their money. The credit card services you have availed and how you paid these services are very important information for these companies because it will be their basis on the approval (or disapproval) of your request, and the rate of interest they can give you. You need at least 700 points to securely get approved.

Fortunately, there is now an easier way to get a small business loan without the fear of your own credit card history. Getting a business cash advance is a faster and less stressful option for a business loan. A business cash advance is a lending service offered to business owners who accept credit cards as payment for their goods or services. This alternative form of business loan has a shorter processing time and has lesser requirements than a bank loan. This type of small business loan is quite perfect for those emergency situations where you need a large sum of money, fast. Approval of a business cash advance usually only takes 24 to 72 hours, depending on the company. Upon approval, the money is automatically transferred to your personal account. This fast-paced business loan is usually applied for online, which is very convenient.

The requirements are quite similar to those of most lending institutions, but your credit history would not be put under strict reviews. In fact, unlike business loans from the bank, bad credit history is not that big of a deal for cash advance providers. You only need to be of legal age, have a registered business in the US, have a small business that subscribes to credit card services for payment, and have been in business for at least a year.

The payment terms for a business cash advance are, of course, different from that of a business loan from the bank. But in general, the payment terms for this lending service will greatly depend on the amount of money you will be borrowing. The higher the amount, the longer time you’ll have to pay it off. But note that interests tend to be a bit higher for this type of business loan. For banks and other big lenders, payment terms for business loans can be paid off in longer terms, usually, over a year or more. Small business loans payment in banks usually does not exceed five years.

Payment for this type of business loan can be done in one single drop or monthly. It all depends on your capability to pay, and the amount of money you borrowed. The payment terms will usually require you to pay the cash advance company each month and you will get the payment structure with the amount that they expect you to pay every month. If you can afford to pay it off all at once, the better.

Start a home run Company With growing businesses Grants

In this time as we witness the quick advancing of technology in unison with the skyrocketing jobless rate, many Yank voters are turning to growing businesses grants funded by the US state as a method of establishing home based online businesses. This practice is beginning to become more and more popular each day every day as the evolution of technological business enhancements is rapidly rendering traditional techniques of company operations obsolete.

There is no better time than now to start considering telecommunication and virtual office positions as a regular work or career procedure. This is the age of computers, and web cams, and digital this, and automated that. It’s a daily occurrence that thousands are downsized of their long time jobs while major companies downsize workers to redirect payroll funds, to upgrade their automatic systems. Becoming self employed is apparently the last chance at any sort of job security for some, and growing businesses grants are commonly the sole chance of achieving that.

The smartest thing about using small business grants to build a web “work from home” business is, glaringly, because this is free government money. There’s no credit check, cosigner, interest, collateral, or anything else. This is a gift from the government awarded to you to build your new business. No other kind of business can achieve those highly favorable results.

It is entirely possible to be awarded enough funding to…

*Purchase computers, software, telephones, copy machines, faxes, printers, and all other necessary major electronic or technical equipments to keep your company running smooth and efficiently.

*Afford advertising materials and services to correctly pitch your business, whatever it may be.

*Obtain special coaching or varsity courses that correspond to your selection of career path to enhance your business.

These are just a few of the advantages of making your own internet business. We haven’t even touched on the pleasure and freedom of not having a boss, not having to commute to work, not having to pay for gas or parking, wait for trains or busses, get stuck in rush hour traffic, be late for work, take a cut in pay, or get let go. Sounds pretty appealing, doesn’t it. Well imagine being able to do all of that, for free.

Follow the links below to see how much free government money you qualify for in SOHO grants. It may not be long before you are enjoying lifetime job security in that plush corner office with a window…with a view of your patio.

Moms Going to College – A Growing Trend in America

Nowadays, there are several moms going to college. This is all thanks to the program being spearheaded by US President Obama. Even though he has already provided an increased fund for the Pell Grant, the current US President has also allocated billions of dollars solely for the single moms. If you are one of these single mothers who wish to go back to school to finish a degree, now is your chance.

Let’s face it. Going back to school is an expensive and difficult decision which you should think about thoroughly. And even if you do have that extra money, you would still rather save it for your kids’ future right? But what if you were given extra money so that you can go back to school and finish a degree, it would be one big move on your part. This is exactly what President Obama is doing since he wants to improve the lives of the single mothers in the US. In order to qualify for this program, here are some ways you can follow.

Currently, there are two forms of the college funding process, the loans and the grants. While a college loan is easy to get, it also gives you less money and you will have to pay it back. On the other hand, a college grant is different than the loan since you are not required to repay it even if you have finished your degree.

This is how the Obama Mom’s Return to School program works. The successful single mom applicants are given a fund which they can use to pay for their college education. This money is no longer required to be repaid. In addition, it can even be used with an online course instead of the actual sit-in classroom setup.

Plus, it is even easy to qualify to this stimulus program. No matter what major you choose, there is a fund available to you given that the school you chose is participating in the program. If you want to have a brighter future so that you can provide for the needs of your kids, all you need to do is simply apply. There is really no harm in trying. Who knows, maybe you just might be among the next batch of moms going to college. Surely, with this opportunity, there are several other single moms applying. If you want to rewarded with this program, all you need to do is apply today.

*update* Did you know you can get a ,000 scholarship for moms just for registering? Apply right now for free: http://scholarshipformoms.info.

Growing (Part 7)

Poppy
“Poppy!” a voice from behind me called.
I smiled to myself; it was Jeff’s voice. I turned to where the voice was coming from to see Jeff with a shy grin on his face.
“You were out this morning.” He said casually,” I didn’t think you’d be in today.”
“Did you miss me?” I laughed.
He blushed slightly and looked down at his feet.
O God. He did miss me.
Realization hit me. Jeff wasn’t like all the other guys. Jeff cared too much about relationships. I would have to be careful with him. Something was telling me that I was going to end up breaking his heart. I want some fun, not a relationship. Relationships just seemed so binding. I wasn’t ready to let anyone into my heart. I liked keeping a thick wall separating myself from everyone around me. No one, not even Jeff was going to change that.

“So,” I started quickly, “How’s things?”
“Fine.” He smiled. “You?”
I shrugged and smiled back.
“Your hair’s nice.” He said tugging on my ponytail.
My hand went self-consciously to my hair. ” No. I look a wreck Jeff.” I said shaking my head.
“You couldn’t look a wreck, even if you tried.” He said smiling.
“I-” I stopped, “Thanks.” I said smiling.
Something as small as a compliment lifted my spirits; suddenly I didn’t feel half as bad as I did in English. The bell rang for our next class. My heat skipped a beat. I knew I couldn’t go through with another class of paranoia. I knew I was dangerously close to breaking down and loosing my self-control.

I grabbed Jeff’s arm quickly. “Come on, skip Maths and come have coffee with me. I need to get out of here.” I smiled lightly.
He looked doubtful; he looked down the hall at the classroom we were supposed to be going to. My heart began to sink at a tremendous rate; my eyes began to prickle as if there was a small fire alight behind my eyelids.
“I dunno-” he began apprehensively
“Please Jeff.” I said no longer smiling holding onto his arm tighter.
Our eyes locked for a moment. A frown creased his forehead as he studied my face.
“Sure.” He said looking worriedly at me.
Relief flooded through me so quickly that I thought I would faint with the dizzying rush.
“Thanks” I smiled half-heartedly releasing his arm.

We walked passed our classroom and up another flight of stairs to our locker’s. As I opened mine and got my bag and put away my books Jeff stood still. I turned to him wondering why he hadn’t opened his locker.
“Poppy, is everything ok? I mean you’re not in trouble are you?”
“I’m fine, I’m just having a really bad day. You know when you just reach that point when you know that one more class would probably kill you?”
He nodded “Yeah I get you.”
We walked out the student entrance and headed towards the town. I took out a cigarette and light it. The first drag calmed me down and slowed my pumping heart. I exhaled and the column of smoke traveled up towards the sky.
“Why do you smoke? It’s so bad for you.” Asked Jeff when I caught him watching as I inhaled and exhaled again.

“I get stressed.” I shrugged. “It helps.”
He shook his head at me.
“Lighten up Jeff.” I smiled slipping my arm through his. ” At least now I would be grouchy.”
With that a sudden roll of thunder came out of nowhere and the sky exploded with heavy drops of rain.
I chucked the cigarette and we began to run to the nearest thing that we could shelter under.
“That’s pretty bad.” Jeff said looking out at the sky from the doorway we had managed to shelter under.
“Yeah.” I agreed.
I was soaked through. My thin cardigan did nothing to keep the rain out and my cotton tracksuit bottoms were just as bad. I began to get cold very quickly.
My stomach suddenly rumbled.

Jeff laughed. “Was that more thunder or did someone skip lunch?”
“I guess I’m hungrier then I thought!”
“Here.” He handed me a half eaten packet of sweets.
“Thanks.” I took one and passed them back to him.
“Help yourself to them.” He pushed them back into my hand. “I’m watching my figure.” He said patting his flat stomach comically.
I laughed at him and took another sweet.
The rain continued as hard as ever without any signs of easing.
“What will we do?” I asked.
“If your up for another five minute run you can come back to mine for a bit?”
“Wouldn’t your parents mind?”
“Mom is working today, she only works Fridays, and dad won’t be home for another hour or two.”

“You sure its ok if I come over though?” I asked afraid of imposing.
“Of course it is and anyway think of it as a test run to show you how to get to my house for later.”
“Later?”
“The party?” he said laughing. “You’ve already forgotten!”
“O God! Today’s Friday already!”
I had completely forgotten about the party. The week had been so chaotic that it slipped my mind.
“Can you still make it?”
“Yeah of course I can. I just don’t know what to wear!”
“You’re such a girl.” He scoffed
“Well I glad you figured that one out.”
He grabbed my arm and dragged me through the rain to his house. It turned out to be more a ten-minute run and we both resembled drowned rats by the time we made it through his front door.

His house was very posh compared to mine. It was neat and tidy and had a lived in feeling to it. The hall was full of family pictures with smiling faces and artwork with artist names I didn’t recognize. I was afraid to drip water on their highly polished wooden floor so I remained standing on the doormat until Jeff came back with a towel for me.
“You can come in you know.” He said smiling.
“I don’t want to get water all over your floor.”
I felt uncomfortable. I felt very much like I was lower class to Jeff and his family.
“Well how about you take off your shoes and leave them there and then you don’t have to worry.”
He took his shoes off and left them on the mat and I slipped my feet out of mine. My socks were soaked through also and left wet footprints on the floor when I walked so I stood rooted the spot again.
“Poppy, relax would you.” He said shaking his head and smiling at me.
“Sorry its just-” my voice went into a mumble. My confidence was shot, a very rare occurrence for me.

Jeff
I could sense Poppy was uncomfortable as she stood two steps away from the doormat. I sighed. I wanted to laugh at her but I sensed that it wasn’t the right time to make fun of her.
I walked over to her and picked her up gentle and with her cradled in my arms-much to her protest I carried her into the kitchen and sat her down on a chair next to the radiator.
“Well it was either that or bring your coffee out to you in the hall.” I smiled at her.
She laughed shyly.
I had never seen her act so timidly before. She always seemed to be oozing with confidence, so much so that I found her hard to approach her before this week. It was strange to see her out of her comfort zone. I immediately felt the need to make her feel more relaxed.

After I made the coffee we sat opposite each other. Poppy drank hers completely black, no sugar or milk. She still amazed me with her little habits.
“Sorry but I have to take my socks off.” She said suddenly. “I hate having wet feet.” She said wrinkling her nose.
“Go for it.” I said smiling.
Her socks had sheep on them and when she took them off I noticed she had a toe ring with a small purple stone in it. Her toenails were painted deep purple and they were white with the cold.
“Nice ring!”
“Thanks. It random but I prefer wearing rings on my toes to my fingers.” She laughed.
“Here come with me and you can have a pair of my socks, I don’t have sheep socks but I’m sure I can find you some nice boring white socks.”
She laughed and followed me up the stairs into my room.

Thankfully my room was tidy all except my bed, which I didn’t make this morning. She looked around my room with wide eyes.
“Your room is amazing!” she said
I never thought it was all that amazing really but her eyes light up at the sight of it.
“You have a hammock?” she laughed pointing to the corner of my bedroom.
“Yeah its nice to read in.” I said as I went through my sock drawer to find a nice pair of socks for her.
“Wow.” She said looking on my shelf above my bed. “Did you win all of those?”
I nodded blushing as she looked at all my running and swimming medals and trophies.
“You have everything up here! A bathroom, TV, couch, sound system, xbox everything!”
She smiled at me, “you’re so lucky!”
“What’s your room like?”
When I imaged what Poppy’s room looked like I thought of pink walls and a big wide space with lots of photos on the walls.

“It’s-” she paused “It’s pretty awful really.”
“I’m sure it’s not.”
She looked at me and nodded. “It is. It’s a really old house and since dad is gone its hard to keep it from falling apart.”
I nodded. I didn’t realized Poppy didn’t have a dad, or at least didn’t live with him.
“Can I see it sometime?” I asked smiling
“No, I don’t think so.” She said quickly.
“Please.” I smiled again.
“Maybe.” She said finally.
I threw a pair of socks at her.
She caught them and smiled. “Pierre Cardin? Very fancy!”
“Not really but they’re nice and soft at least!”
I looked at her grey tracksuit bottoms, which were now dark grey with the rain that had soaked into them.

“Ok, we are going to do a full make over.” I said.
I threw a pair of my tracksuit bottoms at her and a t-shirt.
“I’ll look like a guy!”
“I don’t want you getting sick and not being able to come out tonight.”
I sent her into the bathroom with the clothes and I went off to the other upstairs bathroom and changed out of my soggy clothes. When I came back into my room she was sitting on my bed looking very baggy in my over sized clothes. She had taken down her hair and it was drying slowly down her back.
“You look comfy in those,” I said sitting down next to her.
“I am!” she flapped the arms on the long sleeved t–shirt and smiled. They were miles too long for her.
“You still manage to look far better in them then I ever will.”
She shoved me in the arm. “Stop it you!”

She moved up beside me and sat with her back against the wall looking around my room pointing out the few things she noticed.
I watched her as she chatted away about how she was never into sports but how when she was little she wanted to be an ice skating dancer. She was really beautiful, even with wet hair and hardly any make up left on her face. She looked even prettier without the make up. I wanted to ell her so but I want to interrupt her. I found it hard to concentrate on what she was saying. I was too busy looking at her and how her face changed when she laughed.
“Sorry, I’m probably boring you!” she said suddenly.
“No.” I shook my head.

She smiled. She smiled a lot since we left school. I hoped it was because she was with me but I guess it was a very bold thought to have.
She sighed and scooted down in the bed until she was lying down.
“Thanks for leaving school with me.” She said after a long but comfortable silence.
“No problem. Are you feeling better now?”
She nodded up at me and put her head on my lap. My heart skipped a beat. I raised a hand to stroke her hair but I hesitated. Just like Poppy had lost her confidence earlier I had lost mine. I remained with my hand half raised until I finally plucked up the courage and began stroking her hair. She didn’t flinch, as I was afraid she would but instead closed her eyes.
Her hair was still damp to touch but it felt soft even still. After a while she slowly sat up.
“Jeff,” She looked sad.” I don’t know why I’m telling you this but-” She stopped and looked at me again.

“I don’t want to hurt you.” She said slowly,
“Hurt me?” I asked confused.
“I mean you’re such a nice, genuine guy and, well, I’m not the type of girl you should be going for.”
I was confused. Was she breaking up with me before we even starting going out? I exhaled slowly and scooted down in the bed as she did so we could lie down together face to face.
“I don’t really get where you’re going with this.” I admitted, I brushed a few strands of hair away from her eyes.
“Well, ok. Basically I’m going to end up breaking you’re heart.” She said very quietly.
“How do you know?” I whispered but I’m not sure why.
She closed her eyes. “I just will. I always do. It’s just different with you. I’d rather not get close to you at all then mess things up and hurt you.”
“How is it different?”

“I actually care about you, it’s weird but I have been going out with guys for much longer then I’ve known you and I feel more for you than I have any of the other boyfriends. I don’t even know you!” she started to turn away but I stopped her.
“But if I’m different to the others maybe it won’t turn out the same way.”
“I don’t want to risk it.” She said
“I do.” I told her.
She opened her eyes. They were watering.
“And if I break your heart?”
“I’ll consider it a life experience.” I laughed, “I doubt you’re going to break my heart.” I reassured her.
She was quiet for a long time tracing her finger along the pattern on my t-shirt’s arm.
“What if I break you’re heart?” I asked. “Did you think of that?”
She stopped tracing the pattern. “You won’t.”
“How do you know?”

“Sometimes I wonder if I have a heart to be broken.”
She gave me a sad smile.
“I think you have a big heart. You just have to open up a bit.”
I stroked her cheek lightly. A solitary tear escaped from her eye. I brushed it away with my finger.
She moved closer to me so that are noses were almost touching and closed her eyes. We lay like that for a long time. I wrapped my arm around her and rested my hand on the small of her back.
She was so still I was sure she was asleep. I turned to lie on my back and she moved so that she was tucked up beside me, her head on my chest.

Cindy
I sat down in maths at the back of the classroom. As always I saved a seat for Jeff next to me. The class began and there was still no sign of him. I wondered if he had a meeting for cross-country training.
I poked George, who was sitting in front of me.
“Where’s Jeff?” I whispered
“We saw him leave with Poppy. I guess those two really hit it off. The lucky sod!” he laughed.
“O.” I replied scowling.
My blood was boiling all of a sudden. I could feel myself getting tense.

Dave
I took a long walk once I got home. In the car dad told me what my fate was. Boarding school in Cork, 250 km’s away from here. It was expensive, which dad seemed to repeat over and over again to me. It was a mixed school but they all had to wear goofy uniforms. It was a very prestigious school so I don’t know how I was going to survive there. There was a rule for everything, no smoking, no drinking, and no cursing. They even had a curfew of what time they had to be in bed for! It was not the place for me, like come on! I’m into no rules no stress yano?
I had to walk it off or else I’d probably punch dad right in the mouth. He’s going to be off in China while I have to stay under lock and fucking key in some hellhole.
I didn’t even feel like gate crashing that stupid party anymore. I just felt like there was nothing I could do. I felt like I had to sit back and watch this whole terrible real life movie of my life unfold.
A new school? Was it really necessary? Am I that messed up? I’m just being a teenager; I’m just making the most out of life. Tonight was my last night to go out and get wasted. Then tomorrow I’m outta here to the bloody institution in Cork. Out of sight out of mind, just what dad wants.

Poppy
It was nice just lying there with him. His clothes had a nice smell. His bed was comfortable and his room was so peaceful.
I could have stayed there all day if I had been able to.
“I should go.” I said sitting up.
“No don’t you can stay as long as you want.”
“Don’t say that, I’ll never leave!” I started to tie my hair back into a ponytail.
He put his arm across my lap.
“Good luck leaving now.” He said sleepily.
I ruffled his hair playfully. He still had his arm across me. I knew I could escape easily if I wanted to. I tickled him under his arm.

“Hey!” he laughed and tightened his grip on me as I tickled him more. He was awake now and grabbed me around the waist and threw me back down on the bed. He started tickling my ribs and I couldn’t stop laughing. My throat was beginning to hurt with the amount of laughing I was doing.
“Stttoo-pp!” I squealed through my laughter.
Within all the struggling my t-shirt had risen up exposing my stomach. He looked down at it and smiled.
“I didn’t know you had your belly button pierced.”
I looked down at the pink diamond. You could also see the beginning of my tattoo on my hip.
Jeff noticed it too. He touched the black outline. There was only a tiny section of it visible.
“What is it of?” he asked

“If I told you, I’d have to kill you.” I stuck my tongue out at him.
“Fine!” he laughed, “be like that!”
He was leaning over me, his chain hanging from his neck and above my head. I took hold of it and looked at the small cross hanging from the end of it. He smiled down at me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him towards me. He didn’t resist as I continued to pull him gently towards me. Our lips met. His lips were warmth and inviting. It was a soft, slow kiss. My heart was beating quickly. I felt Jeff’s body relaxing and he wrapped his arms around me. I could feel the weight of his body pressing down on mine. Jeff coaxed my mouth open and our tongues danced together. He tasted sweet and I didn’t want to break away from him. I didn’t think he wanted to break away either.
It was his phone ringing from the landing that finally made us withdraw from each other. He smiled before jogging out to the landing.
“O hi…yep…hmm…yea ok… ok. Bye”
He came back in.
“Sorry about that. It was my mom.”
“That’s ok. I really have to go now.”
He offered me a lift home.

Jeff
“So where am I taking you?”
“Are you my taxi man now?”
“Yes Madam.” I smiled at her and started the car.
“Well you can just leave me half way if you want?”
“No. I’m going to drop you to your front door so you don’t have to walk in the rain.”
“Ok. Thanks.” She started messing with her fingers.
She told me the address. I knew where it was. It was the last place I would of thought she lived in. It was a place I would never walk through at night. It was notorious for attacks and robberies.
We reached her house. If I saw it I would have thought no one was living in it. The front garden was over grown and the roof was missing tiles. There was graffiti on the front wall of the house and the letterbox was nailed shut.
“Well thanks for the lift.” She said looking around her estate.
“No problem.”

“I would asked you in but mum isn’t well so…”
“Tell her get well soon.”
“Thanks I will. ”
“So I’ll see you tonight?”
“Yep, I’ll be there around 9.”
“I’ll come and collect you. I don’t want you getting the bus.”
“Jeff! I do it every day of the week its fine.”
“Just let me collect you.” I asked
“Ok then.” She smiled.
“I’ll be here around 8:30.”
I leaned across the car and kissed her softly; weary that her mum was probably watching I pulled away sooner then I wanted to.
“See you then.” She said got out of the car, running towards the house in the rain.

Growing Legal Costs in the School System

The school system today is dramatically different from what it was 20 years ago. It used to be that children got off the bus, milled around the hallways, attended class, played on the playground, and went home – safe and sound. Today, we see metal detectors at the entrances of schools, armed police officers in the halls, bomb-sniffing dogs, and the list goes on.

Legal costs have grown significantly. Schools now pay for lawyers and find themselves on the defending end in court. While legal support has become a part of today’s school system, it also means money that would go toward future education is affected. Funds that would typically be spent on books, transportation, and other educational funding are suffering. In some cases, the heavy load of legal expenses has closed school doors permanently.

As risk of lawsuits build and problems within the schools are ignored or badly dealt with, more and more teachers are walking away. We already have a shortage of good teachers in this country; now, with legal costs rising and salaries down, this career field is even more unattractive. Legal support does have its place, but it has impacted the effectiveness of our schools.

The solution is not straightforward. In recent years, we have seen some new laws passed that speak directly to frivolous lawsuits. For instance, President Bush is recommending a new clause be added to the education reform bill in which “teachers and principals and school board members can take reasonable actions to maintain order and discipline in the classroom without the fear of being sued.” While not everyone agrees with this amendment, it shows how serious the problem of discipline in the school system has become.

School systems themselves can do a number of things on their end to reduce legal costs. For starters, the system can impose stiffer penalties for wrong behavior. Adopting a “three-strike rule” could help foster better behavior and increased safety. In addition, both teachers and students could be taught or trained to identify problem students and know when and how to take the appropriate action. The goal all the way around is to ensure the safety of the students without disrupting quality education.

Medical Billing Is The Fastest Growing Opportunity In Health Care

On February 16, 2006 the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act was finalized, and enacted. This law is designed to establish national standards for all health care transactions, and to ensure the security and privacy of all health related information. The motivation behind this law is to improve the performance, and efficiency of our health care system. This type of reform has created a need for qualified individuals who can utilize the tools of this legislation, and assure full compliance, and maximum reimbursement. It would therefore be a prudent move for health care facilities to employ such individuals in order to avoid mistakes that could have dire consequences.

The proliferation of medical knowledge following World War II brought about an explosion of diagnostic, and treatment procedures. As a result, there became a need to organize, and standardize all these developing technologies. Here is where the foundations of medical coding were born. Medical coding met these challenges, and allowed for a more uniform way of communicating health information under a common language. By January 1979, standardized definitions, and codes were adopted, and used by health care providers, and insurance companies. Since improvements and refinements of medical procedures are constantly being developed, codes must be added and updated to reflect these changes. Today, the number of medical and surgical procedures have become enormous, so too have the codes to describe them. These overwhelming numbers of codes and protocols have made outsourcing medical billing the standard.

Medical Billing and related occupations continue to be the fastest growing opportunities in health care. Insurance institutions and government agencies are investing huge resources to control claims’ fraud, abuse, and establish some degree of reimbursement parity. As a result, more insurance companies, and health care facilities are looking to medical billing experts for help. These companies and practices are looking for experienced and educated individuals; the legal consequences of incorrect billing could be devastating. There is a movement in the industry to make medical billers responsible for inaccuracies, much they way accountants are for tax returns.

At present, there are no standards for educational requirements for medical billers and coders. However, more employers are looking for some formal training at an accredited career training institution. These schools range in training time from nine months to two years, anything less would not be considered adequate. There is a move for certification, and several organizations are sponsoring certification examinations in medical billing and coding. Medical billers and coders earn as much as $8 to $10 per hour in the beginning, and could potentially realize $30 to $40 per hours with experience and additional responsibilities.

Today, evolutions in the health care industry are happening at a very high pace. It is only with the assistance of sophisticated computer programs, and standardized coding procedures that medical coders are now able to describe and characterize the tremendous number and various kinds of medical and surgical procedures. These realities coupled with government regulations, and health insurance guidelines have contributed to the strong demand for experienced medical coders and billers.
