NDIA is America’s leading defense industry association promoting national security. Yourchisin, an area executive who has worked in the local defense-technology industry, runs ID’s Tampa Office. There are many “firsts” involved in Yourchisin’s new NDIA role. She is the first female, first person under 35, and the first non-active or retired military, to be elected president of the Chapter.

The growth is due to an engaged group of volunteers and members actively seeking to better support local warfighting customers and to enhance the growth of the Tampa defense industry. Chapter initiatives support MacDill Air Force Base, U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), U.S. Central Command, Homeland Security and the U.S. Coalition Forces. The Chapter’s primary objectives are new business development, professional development and networking, and technology partnerships.

“Mary Allison is widely respected as an innovative leader in the Tampa Bay area and has spearheaded multiple initiatives to unite the defense industry,” said Anthony Gray, past NDIA Greater Tampa Bay Chapter president. “We are privileged to have her as our new chapter president with great prospects for our collective future.”

NDIA’s Greater Tampa Bay Chapter also spearheads a fund that provides scholarship grants to the children of Special Operations Defense Industry Heroes who have been lost in the Global War on Terror. The fund was launched in honor of Kevin Tilghman who passed away while representing USSOCOM Special Operations Research, Development, and Acquisition Center Directorate of Science and Technology in the demonstration of a Norwegian fast boat.
