Andreea Raber, Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC

Plover, WI (PRWEB) October 30, 2011

The Women In Trucking (WIT) Association grows with the addition of a new Gold Level partner. Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems, LLC, has joined Frito-Lay NA and Walmart as top sponsors of the nonprofit organization.

“As an association, we are dependent upon our members to grow and to expand our influence,” said Ellen Voie, President/CEO of the organization. “With the support of our Gold Level partners we are able to add more programs and activities that provide value to our members and help us make the trucking industry a better environment for women at all levels.”

Andreea Raaber, Bendix’s Vice President for Business Development will serve on the board of directors. Raaber was one of the finalists for the Women In Trucking Association’s “Influential Woman of the Year” award sponsored by Navistar, Inc. “From driving the big rigs to driving the decisions that help shape our industry today and tomorrow, women hold an ever-increasing role in the trucking industry,” said Raaber. “Bendix is very proud to offer its corporate support to the Women in Trucking Association to continue the mission to encourage the employment of women in our industry and promote their accomplishments. We believe in the power, the potential, and the promise that the Women In Trucking organization can bring to our industry.”

Women In Trucking Association has experienced considerable growth in its four-year existence. The mission of the nonprofit organization is to encourage women to consider careers in the trucking industry, address obstacles that might keep women from succeeding and to celebrate the success of its members.

Accomplishments include the development of an anti-harassment employment guide prepared by J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. for carrier members. The association has been successful in working with travel plazas to better accommodate female drivers, and hosts an annual “Salute to Women Behind the Wheel” to honor female professional drivers.

Future goals for the association include a toll free crisis line, scholarships for members, addressing diversity vendor needs for shippers, and a recruiting ad campaign in addition to continuing to improve the work environment for all women in the trucking industry.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group, develops and supplies leading-edge active safety technologies, energy management solutions, air brake charging, and control systems and components under the Bendix brand name for medium- and heavy-duty trucks, tractors, trailers, buses, and other commercial vehicles throughout North America. An industry pioneer, employing more than 2,200 people, Bendix is driven to deliver solutions for improved vehicle performance, safety, and overall operating cost. Women In Trucking was established in 2007 to encourage the employment of women in the trucking industry, promote their accomplishments and minimize obstacles faced by women working in the trucking industry. Membership is not limited to women, as 16 percent of its members are men who support the mission. For more information visit http://www.WomenInTrucking.org or call 888-464-9482.

The Sex Offender Database: Is Your Home at Threat Level Red?

The Sex Offender Database: Is Your Home at Threat Level Red?

Quick. Can you recite the name, address, and crimes committed by the sexual offenders on your street or in your neighborhood? Apparently many people can. During the first 96 hours after the Megan’s Law database was launched on December 15, 2004, there were 14 million hits to the website, out of a total of only 35 million people in California. In fact, the site at Meganslaw.ca.gov was so clogged that many received a message, “Server busy. Try again later.”

Moraga has only one sexual offender registered, as do Toluca Lake and Malibu. After an extensive search, I found only one area with a better record. It is Bermuda Dunes, wherever the heck that is. Turns out it is near Palm Desert, and it reports no sexual offenders at all. The most dismal records I could find were Modesto and Sacramento. Modesto has 513 offenders and a population of 200,000; this equals one offender for every 389 people in the area. Sacramento has 1567 offenders and a population of 407,000, which means one offender for every 259 people.

The “Big Brother type” database is not good news for the 63,000 offenders. The American Civil Liberties Union claims this group may become the victims of vigilante attacks, plus it is argued that many of these ex-cons committed illegal acts decades ago, purport to be reformed, thus should not be revealed at all. There is also the possibility that those listed will never find a job when the Google search engine retrieves the database in association with their names.

But what truly concerns me is never mentioned: the ramifications for non-offenders. It is not politically correct to mention anything that could detract from the noble and worthy goal of protecting children, but what if the database does not indeed defend anyone and what if it destroys the lives and livelihoods of non-offenders by its mere existence? I argue it could.

The first potential problem relates to the safety of children. Parents or guardians may embrace a false sense of security when they check to find no offender resides near their home or child’s school, and as a result, may let down their guard. A full 20 percent of those listed in the database–indicated by a red check mark beside their name–have secretly moved to undisclosed locations. Plus those accurately listed have cars. They can drive to Bermuda Dunes.

Not all sex offenders have been caught; in fact, exact addresses are available only for the 33,500 who have committed the most serious crimes, and the website omits information on 22,000 other offenders convicted of less serious sex crimes. It is never entirely safe to leave a child unattended, regardless of what a database says. Complacency could prove a dangerous trend.

Secondly, the Sexual Offender Database is riddled with inaccuracies; the Attorney General’s website, which hosts the list, warns about possible gaps in information and the danger of relying on names and addresses to identify people. Because so many of those registered have not reported their change of address; their new neighbors are unaware of their presence, and their old communities are stigmatized.

Kyle and Pam Brown, an East Bay couple, experienced this problem first hand. They were shocked to find their address added to the database with a detailed map to their home. They had purchased the property 11 years earlier, unaware of the previous owner’s crimes. Frightened of revenge attacks and embarrassed to be linked to the offender, the Browns asked that the inaccuracy be rectified immediately. The State Department of Justice said it could not replace an old address until it received a new one from the sex offender. Only after pressure and unflattering media reports did the authorities agree to delete the address in a timely manner.

Thirdly, it may sound shallow, but the database could seriously impact real estate values and the ability to sell ones property. There are people, such as the elderly, sick, or financially strapped, who may count on their equity or need to sell in a hurry. They may encounter difficulty if Mr. Sexual Offender lives next door, across the street, behind the backyard, or even three homes away.

Because the database can be accessed by the click of a computer mouse, buyers are likely to check before making an offer, and sellers may be required by law to disclose these “unsavory” neighbors. As a result, property owners may find themselves unable to sell or forced to reduce the list price dramatically. This is especially problematic for single family residences because home buyers, who often have kids, are less likely to be nonchalant about a questionable neighbor.

Over forty percent of the offenders listed in Napa, Santa Rosa, Tarzana, Burbank, Ojai, Mill Valley, Vacaville, San Pablo and Northridge live in houses rather than apartments. Ironically, it could become commonplace to pay offenders to relocate. Why not pay a convicted felon $5000 to move to the other side of town when it will result in a $25,000 – $50,000 increase in equity? As odd as it seems, offenders could find they profit from the negative exposure on the Internet.

Lastly, there is the fear factor. Evidence suggests that offenders are more likely to re-offend under stressful conditions, such as when they are ridiculed or unable to find work. In other words, our communities and children may be in greater jeopardy when these people are publicly exposed.

Fear can also impact non-offenders directly. Talk radio callers boast about driving their children past the “dangerous” homes in their area. What is the emotional impact of this exercise on the child? On the adult?

We are arguably a fearful nation. The nightly news is replete with warnings, violence and disasters; perhaps because instilling fear heightens advertisers’ sales. Perhaps because it scores high ratings for the network.

For two years, we have been treated to Homeland Security’s color-coded terror alerts, though the government itself admits that “raising the threat condition has economic, physical, and psychological effects on the nation.” Does this really make us more secure? Do people still notice these alerts?

It may follow that the existence of an easily accessible sexual offender database might have a similar impact on our state, raising fears, achieving little and impacting real estate values. Will we be better protected by knowing that little Suzy’s house is in a red zone, little Bobby’s school is in an Orange Zone and little Billy walks his dog in a Yellow Zone? I suspect not, but hope I am wrong.

Best Entry Level Telecommuting Jobs

There are many telecommuting jobs available in the area of telephone customer service. Compared to many positions, they are easier to get, because many of them provide on-the-job-training and require little experience. Most of theses companies offer flexible hours, and usually require between a twelve and forty hour workweek. Some even offer benefits. Other companies consider you an independent business owner or contractor.

When considering a telephone customer service job, you should have a separate phone line for business purposes, a headset phone and possibly a high-speed internet connection (depending on the company, some require this).

There are two basic types of phone customer service positions: inbound and outbound. If you have an inbound position, you are waiting for calls to be transferred to you by the company that are initiated by the customer. In outbound service, you are given a list of customers to call. These are pre-existing customers, instead of cold calling.

Alpine Access is one company that hires inbound customer service employees. They provide customer service via phone, e-mail and chats. They require any prospective employees to have high speed internet, a landline and a phone with a headset. They do pay every two weeks (average of $9 an hour) by direct deposit and offer benefits after three months. They are only hiring in a few states, despite being a telecommuting position, so be sure to check if the opportunity is available in your state.

Customer Loyalty Concepts hires outbound phone customer service employees. They focus on two main types of business: newspaper subscriptions (renewals) and business-to-business sales, with the goal of increasing the client base. They require employees to have unlimited long distance phone service, but provide training (they have a special dialing system so the calls don’t go on your bill). They pay every other week by check or direct deposit (direct deposit available after 90 days). They do provide paid training, starting at $7 an hour, with the potential to make $11 an hour. CLC does not currently hire in all states, but they do not list all the states in which they do hire.

Liveops is in inbound customer service job, but you are considered an independent agent or business owner, as opposed to an employee. As a Liveop agent, you will receive calls from customers wanting help with Liveop services. Pay is based on actual talk time on the phones, averaging from $7 to $10 an hour, in addition to bonuses and incentives. Agents are paid twice a month, by check or direct deposit. While there is no start-up fee, there is a $30 fee for background check. Liveops hires in the forty-eight contiguous states.

Educational Requirement for the Different Level of Practice Nursing

Nurses are very important, as they work to perform many needful tasks; promoting health, preventing diseases and assisting persons in dealing with their ailments from day to day. Their job can involve anything from providing basic healthcare to helping surgeons to conduct critical and complex procedures. For persons desirous of becoming nurses there are many levels of practice that are available in this field, with each having their respective educational requirement.

Licensed Practical Nursing

Becoming a licensed practical nurse (LPN) is one of the fastest ways to enter the field of nursing. These nurses are involved in measuring and monitoring patients; collecting test samples from the laboratory; and assisting in the treatments and care of patients. In addition they work under the supervision of a registered nurse. Nurses in the LPN program are allowed to begin working after the completion of a one year study, and this program is mostly available at vocational schools and community college. After successfully completing the LPN program, graduates may choose to sit the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-PN). In most cases, LPNs do not specialize but work in general healthcare.

Registered Nurses

Registered nurses have the job of caring for patients, assisting and providing support for the families of the patients and also give doctors some assistance in performing medical procedures. They, like doctors have the option and in most cases choose to specialize in areas such as pediatrics, hospice, ambulatory care, critical care or surgery. There are different routes to becoming a registered nurse; you can either obtain a diploma, associate degree or a bachelor degree from a nursing program. Whichever the route taken, all graduates are required to sit the National Council Licensure Examination.

In order to become a registered nurse, the diploma or associate degree will take about 2-3years. The associate degree program is offered by nursing schools and community colleges while the diploma program is basically offered in the hospitals. Recently the diploma program has loss popularity due to the increased interest in the degree program. The associate degree program is mainly for individuals that do not have a desire to pursue research, teaching or administrative positions.

The bachelor’s degree program provides nurses with more clinical experience and more options for possible career goals in the field of nursing. The program takes 4 years for completion and is structured to also equip students for clinical, research, teaching and managerial positions. After completing the bachelor’s degree program, registered nurses must acquire their license by being successful in the National Council Licensure Examinations.

Advance Nursing

Nurses can also further their studies by partaking in graduate studies in nursing. These were designed to give students a wider theoretical knowledge in the field, preparing them to facilitate and deal with complex health care situations. With a master’s degree, nurses can play the role of nurse educator, nurse midwife, nurse anesthetist, nurse administrator, nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist. Doctoral programs are also available for nurses who desire to work in areas of research, education and practice as administrators, educators, policy makers, clinicians and researchers.

In the profession of nursing your knowledge, education, experience and skills gives you many career options and continued growth and advancement.

Naperville Education Planning: Necessary no Matter what Your Income Level

When my oldest child was in grade school, he decided he wanted to play the tuba. This decision surprised me, but he was happy with his choice and proceeded to surprise us all with a natural talent for the instrument.

Then a random line in an article I read got my hopes up: the article mentioned a student who had earned a full college scholarship due to his tuba-playing skills. Apparently a number of college music departments are in dire need of tuba players. “Aha!” I thought. “Here’s a way to pay for college!”

Unfortunately, my grand scheme hit a sour note when my son quit band. By his sophomore year, he had other interests he wanted to focus on, notably basketball. And although he was good enough to make the high school team (no small feat, given the size of Naperville schools), we never labored under the delusion that his skills would earn him a scholarship at the type of large university he was interested in attending.

Fortunately, we had carried our Naperville education planning beyond the “Gee, I hope he gets a scholarship” stage. We realized early on that education savings, just like any others, benefit from compound interest more greatly the longer you’ve been saving. Good solid Naperville financial planning advice helped us figure out the best strategies and plans for our particular situation.

It wasn’t easy. I was talking to an acquaintance when our boys were still in high school. She expressed surprise that we hadn’t purchased an entire college plan when our son was a toddler. After all, she pointed out, it was such a deal then to get 4 years’ tuition for only $14,000. Well, yes, that would be a great deal. But at the time, that much money totaled half our income! Since we didn’t have the wherewithal for that kind of investment, a slow but steady Naperville education planning strategy would have to work for us.

We combined a number of strategies. We asked doting grandparents to scale back of lavish gifts and instead help us grow our kids’ college funds. As our income increased, so too did our regular deposits into their funds.

Now that our oldest has headed off for school, we’re awfully relieved to have the money set aside that we do. The tuition bills still make me gasp, but they don’t make me cry. And at least I didn’t have to force him to take up tuba-playing again.

Taking Your Home Business to the Next Level

Taking Your Home Business to the Next LevelEnlarge Image

At some time after you launch your home based business venture you will presumably reach a point where you are breaking even.

If you keep working hard, your revenue will eventually exceed your expenses, if only by a thin margin. It is at this point that you will wish to turn the corner and push your home business to the next level. Because you will no doubt have expended a lot of energy to grow your enterprise to the degree that you already have, moving it to the next level will require a plan that you can implement on autopilot, one that has been formulated ahead of time.

You will probably find that one of the most important elements of this plan will be to hire at least one employee, and perhaps several, depending on your needs.

This will free you to focus your valuable time and mental energy on growing and managing your business rather than just on the routine day-to-day ‘hands on’ tasks that may arise. Remember that an entrepreneur is an individual who organizes, operates, and takes the risk for a business.

This alone is a lot of responsibility so if you have to do all the day-to-day tasks you may degrade your overall mission.

Do not operate from a “lack mentality” here and try to save every extra penny by doing everything yourself.

To be a true entrepreneur you must first learn to shift his mindset from an employee mindset to an entrepreneur mindset.

That means taking risks, including hiring employees despite the fact that you may barely be able to afford it at the time. Even if your profit margin only allows you to hire one employee, you will find that this step is imperative if you truly wish to grow your home based business.

Another key step you should integrate into your expansion plan is an internet marketing strategy. You may already have a home business website and you may have already invested some time and effort into search engine submission.

I suggest that you also put together a PPC (Pay Per Click) or other type of internet marketing plan as soon as time allows. Hire an SEO professional if you have to, but remember there is much you can do for free to support your website:

Write and submit articles with your byline included, submitting to niche directories in your spare time, link trades and forum postings.

All these steps play a part in the larger whole. If you have hired an employee you will have time for more of this important work.
I recommend a book by Jay Conrad Levinson called “Guerrilla Marketing Online”. It is a classic with much detail about how the internet has largely leveled the playing field, to the benefit of the small business entrepreneur.

Entry Level High Paying Jobs

Entry Level High Paying Jobs

There are some careers which exclusively require advanced degrees and a substantial amount of work experience. Such careers only pay you well if you have a Masters or a Ph.D degree, and also have sufficient years of experience in the related field. However, there are some jobs and careers which do not demand such qualifications or work experience. They even pay you a very competitive salary as compared to other professions which require degrees and experience. Apart from their high remuneration, they also have a very high demand in the job market. Below is a list of some entry level high paying jobs.

High Paying Entry Level Jobs

Registered Nurses (RNs)
This is probably one of the highest paying jobs in the whole of USA. Over three million nurses are presently working in the USA, with a majority of them designated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN). For getting into the nursing field, you would need to possess a registered nursing degree whose duration is of two years, or a bachelors degree in nursing. An entry level job in this career can fetch you somewhere around $60,000 per annum.

Information Technology Professionals
Freshers from the Information Technology (IT) industry are also known to make more money than any other career in the market. Entry level software development professionals and system administrators may earn a minimum of around $60,000 per annum. In these entry level IT jobs, the pay scale largely counts on all types of computer skills, problem solving capabilities, and many more essential factors. If you want to get into the IT sector, you need to possess a bachelors degree in any field of computers that you want to work in. There are also some small duration courses and training that you can complete to gain entry in the IT job industry.

Physical Therapists
Everyone knows that medical jobs are the most remunerative. Physical therapists, being from the medical sector, also earn a significant starting salary. The salary for entry level jobs in physical therapy is approximately $60,000 per annum. Physical therapists are highly in demand in clinics, hospitals, and private health care facilities. If you are looking forward to a physical therapy job, you need to complete a degree from a recognized physical therapy school.

Financial Advisors
These professionals have a wide range of skills and expertise in the financial sector, due to which they are in great demand. Their demand rises, especially during the time of an economic recession, as investors need to gain a perception of the economy and estimate its ups and downs. An entry level job in the financial advisory field can earn about $50,000 per year.

Education Administrators
Teaching jobs and careers in the educational sector are also considered to have a higher pay. An entry level job as an education administrator can earn a salary around $80,000 per year. However, the only drawback is that you are required to possess a Masters degree in Education Administration, and this may take approximately eight years to complete. This is considered to be one of the highest paying job in the market.

These are only a few entry level high paying jobs which are presently in demand. Just imagine that if the entry level salaries of these jobs is so high, what will be the prospective salaries after being backed up by a significant amount of experience and skill as time goes by.

Can PO Funding Take Your Business To The Next Level?

If you ask the owner of a successful re-seller or importer company to identify their biggest challenge, their common answer will be: lack of working capital. Working capital is the lifeblood of all resellers and importers, enabling them to pay suppliers and allowing them to grow their businesses. Many times, their ability to grow is directly linked to their access to working capital.

So, where do re-sellers that wish to take their businesses to the next level go to get working capital? The bank? Unlikely, as banks are tough sources of business financing. To qualify for a business loan you’ll usually need to provide reports showing three years worth of profitable operations – and – the owner will need to have a spotless credit record. Oh, and if you are a startup, don’t bother. Few banks will provide working capital to startups.

Are there any alternate options? Fortunately, the answer is yes. Purchase order financing (commonly known as po funding) is a great source of financing for startups and growing companies that have exhausted their bank financing options. However, you won’t find PO Funding at your local bank, you’ll find it at your local factoring company.

PO funding is an ideal source of financing for resellers, wholesalers, importers, or just about any business that buys goods from third parties and resells them. PO financing covers up to 100% of your supplier expenses, enabling you to close big sales and deliver on them. As opposed to traditional financing, purchase order financing uses your purchase order as the actual collateral. There are no set maximum limits, and you can finance as many orders as you want, provided that they come from commercially credit worthy businesses or the government, and have profit margins of 15% or more.

Purchase order funding works as follows:

1. You get a purchase order from a client. You place an order with your supplier
2. The purchase order finance company pays your suppler using a letter of credit
3. Your supplier delivers the product and your client acknowledges receipt
4. Your client pays for the goods and the transaction between the parties is settled

Purchase order financing can be an affordable financing option that allows you to expand your business when your bank financing options have been exhausted. It can truly enable you to close very large orders, with confidence, and take your business to the next level.

About Commercial Capital LLC
Are you looking for purchase order funding? We can provide you with a competitive po financing and po funding quote. Please call (866) 730 1922 for more information.
