Moms Can Attend College Thanks To Obama And His Grants And Scholarships

Moms are being urged by the new president Obama to return to college. President Obama has created Scholarships for Moms to help them deal with the poor US economy by attending college. Moms can now obtain a larger $5,500 Federal Pell Grant to begin the college journey. With the grant increase more moms can apply for higher college degrees. The cost of moms attending college is also being aided with other various denomination scholarships created by the President. The economy will become stronger with more moms working because in part of the $5500 Pell grant that made it possible for them to attend college, get a good degree and enter the job market. Trying to juggle time and money for the busy single mom makes the decision to sign up for the on line option the obvious choice. Moms can go to class when the timing is right. Certified classes are available at city colleges as well at full colleges and universities along with on line educational sites that specialize in degree programs.

Many moms will be eligible for a $10,000 scholarship even if they can not get the Pell grant. Due to the popularity of this program, only a select amount of moms who register will be receiving the scholarship. Back to school moms require the scholarship money to offset the numerous expenses of going to college. Along with allowing Americans the opportunity to achieve a higher education, this will help stimulate the deteriorating economy. Most Moms will need their own money plus the $10,000 scholarship fund to pay for all the college expenses which helps the economy by investing in the education sector. In corporate business the degree determines the job and future advancement. Anyone, especially single moms obtaining a college degree resulting in a better job should be commended for raising their own and their kids standard of living. There is certainly a positive aura surrounding this program.

Moms can dream of a richer and better time ahead when enrolling in college because of the help of the scholarship program. The connotation is that your home is your castle and every mom wants her castle. A higher degree and a better stable job make it possible for a single mom to afford a home and all the costs. When the moms scholarship program gets rolling the overall shape of the US economy will show progress.

Most moms might shoot down the idea of college right away because of the high price tag, but with a $10,000+ discount, it seems a lot more reachable. Obama rejuvenating the moms scholarship and grant program has contributed to making better, wiser and more educated moms able to take care of their families and building a bridge to the business world. Moms need to register to be eligible for the monthly drawing that determines the scholarship winners.

Moms, especially single moms know how hard it is to go back to college. I Moms going to college while raising a family on a tight budget, no way, but stop and think what are my options, then drop everything and register now, you could be the next winner.

Olympics: Gold Standard Soars Thanks to Hunter and Purchase

Zac Purchase smiled on the podium, smiled in his press conference, and smiled roughly every 30 seconds thereafter as a flash-mob of Chinese volunteers passed their cameras to his girlfriend Felicity and asked her to snap them with a British Olympic rowing champion.

While they did so, Purchase’s partner in the men’s lightweight double sculls, Mark Hunter, articulated just what the gold medal meant to him. “I’ve been dying for this day since I started rowing,” he said. “The national anthem, the flag, it’s a dream come true.”

Before these Games, the British Olympic Association had set the rowers a target of four medals; they ended up winning six – two golds, two silvers and two bronzes – not just their finest result in an Olympic regatta for 100 years but good enough to top the medal table to boot. No wonder the team leader David Tanner sounded a proud man. “It has been fantastic,” he said. “Only two nations won more than one gold medal and we were one of them. Twenty-three of our 43-strong squad have won a medal. It’s fabulous.”

Purchase and Hunter were thumping favorites for the lightweight double sculls having set the fastest time in qualifying – and they soon showed why. After a steady first 500m they accelerated over the next 1,000m to move 1.77sec clear and a boat length up. And though the Greek and Danish teams closed in the last 500m, the British pair held on to win in 6min 10.99sec – an Olympic record. “I just kept pounding away,” explained Hunter, who collapsed to his knees and threw up when he stepped back on terra firma. “I was in a dark place but there was just so much belief and that was what kept us going.”

The pair only came together last year, and had struggled until they swapped seats in the boat. “The biomechanics of each rower suggests they should sit the other way round,” explained Tanner. “The lead person, which is what Zac is, tends to be better in the bow seat. We started that way but it didn’t work, so we switched and suddenly it came together.”

Such attention to detail has also been evident in the squad’s training. “It’s been bloody hard,” admitted Annie Vernon, who took silver in the women’s quad yesterday. “It is seven days a week: weights, on the water, circuit training and the ergo [rowing machine]. One routine we do is a real killer – 24km on the ergo, 6km followed by 90 seconds’ break and back again.”

There was a competitive edge too, with the men’s lightweight and women’s teams, coached by Paul Thompson, keen to get one over the traditionally stronger men’s heavyweight squad, led by Jürgen Gröbler by winning more medals at the Games (they ended tied at three all). “Thommo pushed us right to the edge,” said Purchase. “I certainly didn’t appreciate it in the middle of winter, but I do now.”

Volume, as well as intensity, increased in the run-up to Beijing with the team upping their training to 25 hours a week. “To succeed in rowing you’ve got to show the willpower to go through black times mentally,” Tanner explained. “Rowing for two hours at a moderate heart rate isn’t glamorous, and it won’t make you puke, but it needs doing. There is no escape.”

Lottery funding and sponsorship also played its part. “It has allowed our athletes to have sponsorship grants which allows them to train nearly full-time and improved the depth of our coaching,” he added. “Eight years ago we had one and a half coaches looking after our elite athletes, now we have seven or eight at that level and just as many in our talent ID program. We could also afford to fly the rowers to Beijing in business class, and stay in a hotel and not the village. Some of the team are big lads, and every little advantage helps.”

Now Tanner is focusing on an even better showing in London in 2012. “We’ve done a lot of things right over the last week, but we are developing team and we can improve further,” he said. “I guarantee you that in four years’ time we will be faster across the board.”

On Saturday Team GB took gold in the men’s coxless four, finishing 1.28sec ahead of Australia to secure a third consecutive Olympic gold in the event. Stephen Rowbotham and Matthew Wells won bronze in the men’s double sculls after just failing to hold off Estonia for the silver in the final few yards of the race and behind Australia. “It was very disappointing not to get the gold, extremely disappointing not to get the silver, but you never pass up an Olympic medal. I’m just delighted,” Rowbotham admitted afterwards.

First up Elise Laverick and Anna Bebington took bronze in the women’s double sculls, the former having won the same medal in the event four years ago.

Who Gets Rich Thanks to the 789 Billion Dollar Stimulus Package?

President Obamas’ program in order to stimulate the economy has taken the hurdles of the Congress after some compromises among the parties. It is the largest economic rescue program since Roosevelts New Deal. The 789 billion stimulus measures are split in 36 percent for tax cuts and 64 percents in spending. Nobody knows if the program is going to succeed. The Wall Street remains sceptic.

A gigantic amount of money will be spent in the future. The distribution of this sum will have an impact on the US as well as the international economy. The original “buy American” intention will not work because it violates international trade agreements, e.g. by the WTO. The US state has to invite external firms for its bidding. Thus international corporations can benefit as well as American ones. They could already peep through the fence.

Who are the beneficiaries?

This is a crucial question for companies, shareholders, investors and job seekers. Some tendencies can be worked out after analyzing the big items of the program:

Tax cuts to individuals and families, one time payments for retirees and disabled veterans, extended unemployment benefits help to stimulate the consumption. It is important that the population who lives on a small salary gets some financial relief, because this group among the population needs all the money for consumption. They do not receive enough money to save it, thus every extra dime will be spent. This helps the retailers that offer low price products, in particular high discount. A big player as WalMart might be a big beneficiary.

The next big group of beneficiaries are among the construction industry. The most prominent company is the famous construction equipment firm Caterpillar. Their dismissed workers can go back to work soon and their shareholders will be happy. Many expenses are dedicated to highway construction, bridges, rail projects, national ports, waterways. Such huge construction projects could bring juicy orders to international players, e.g. the concrete and cement producer Holcim.

The US government wants to extend the high speed internet access and they are going to invest in the renovation of the electrical grid. This will bring some more jobs for the telecommunication services and some more PC supplies to households with improved access to the web. The Swedish Swiss company Asea Brown Bovery could gather some orders for the restoration of the electric grid. Water-treatment facilities should get improved. Suppliers of water sewage and sanitation companies may expect orders.

Federal Buildings and school buildings will be made energy efficient. Suppliers for building insulating, windows and modern, efficient heating equipment will be busy soon. Solar power firms also might be considered in this multi billion energy preserving program. Furthermore there is a budget to repair low-income homes. Thousands of small business owners and craftsmen can be involved in such a program. Renovated buildings and homes will need further equipments, e.g. new lavatories, bathrooms, kitchen equipment, plumbing facilities.

Where does really make money thanks of the program?

Fresh subsidies for health insurances will help more people to use health care and medical services. Pharmaceutical companies can sell more pills, e.g. Pfizer, Roche. The guys who get really rich are the specialists who design the computerized medical-record systems. The government wants to improve the health information technology. The supplier must be a highly sophisticated software company. They will benefit from this billion heavy program and their shares are going to skyrocket. This could be the hot make money tip of the stimulus package. More about how to make money can be read at Make Money Tip.
